Penn State TicketCity Bowl Pep Rally on Sunday; Fans Encouraged to Wear White to Game

DALLAS, Texas - Penn State alumni, students and fans in Texas for Monday's TicketCity Bowl, featuring the Nittany Lions and the No. 19 Houston Cougars, can get revved up at the Penn State bowl Pep Rally on Sunday, Jan. 1.

Penn State's TicketCity Bowl pep rally will begin Sunday at approximately 4:15 p.m. CT at Gate A of the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium. The rally will feature Interim Head Coach Tom Bradley and team captains Drew Astorino (Edinboro), Quinn Barham (Durham, N.C.), Derek Moye (Rochester) and Devon Still (Wilmington, Del.). The Penn State Blue Band, cheerleaders and the Nittany Lion also will participate. The rally is free and will preceded by Houston's rally at 3:30 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl.

Penn State fans attending Monday's clash with the 12-1 Cougars are encouraged to wear white to the contest. The Dallas forecast for this weekend is sunny skies with temperatures in the 60's.

Nittany Lion fans attending the contest are encouraged to attend the Penn State Alumni Association's pre-game Tex-Mex Breakfast BBQ. The event will feature the Penn State Blue Band, cheerleaders and the Nittany Lion, Penn State president Rodney Erickson, Alumni Association Executive Director Roger Williams and former Nittany Lion cornerback Adam Taliaferro.

The pre-game BBQ will be held in the Grand Place Building adjacent to the Cotton Bowl. Reservations can be made until 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 31 by logging onto: www.pennstatealumnisportstravel.com.

The Nittany Lions held their third Dallas practice today under sunny skies and warmer temperatures. The team and official travel party were attending a team welcome dinner at Gilley's Dallas, made famous by the movie Urban Cowboy. On Friday, the Nittany Lions will have an opportunity to attend the Dallas Mavericks-Toronto Raptors NBA game.

Penn State and Houston will clash Monday at 11:00 a.m. CT in the first bowl game of 2012. The contest will air on ESPNU, the Penn State Sports Network (10:30 a.m. ET airtime) and Sirius Satellite Radio. The Nittany Lions are playing in their fourth consecutive New Year's Day bowl and will be looking to win at least 10 games for the third time in the past four years.
