Nittany Lion Softball Park Map
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The exciting era of Penn State softball begins this week with the official opening of Nittany Lion Softball Park on Thursday. With the new facility, tickets will be sold and additional information has been announced to give fans better access to purchasing tickets and attending games during the inaugural season. Penn State plays four games at Beard Field this weekend starting with a doubleheader on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. against Buffalo.
Penn State will be charging an admission price of $5 for general seating and PSU students with valid identification will earn free entry. Additionally, groups of 15 or more will be charged a reduced fee of $3 per person. Fans will have two ways of purchasing tickets--at the Nittany Lion Softball Park ticket office on game days and the Bryce Jordan Center box office--to all softball games this year. Nittany Lion Softball Park and its ticket office will open one hour prior to first pitch on all game days.
While there are no season tickets available, fans will be able, and are encouraged, to purchase tickets in advance for all games this year. The Bryce Jordan Center ticket office will be offering softball tickets during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) as well as over the phone at (814) 865-5555. If fans wish to purchase advance tickets in person at the BJC box office no additional fees will be included, while over-the-phone purchases will incur a $1 per ticket fee. Groups interested in purchasing tickets are encouraged to contact Joel Diamond at (814) 867-2557.
The Nittany Lion Softball Park will be able to seat 1,084 fans and all seating at the facility will be general admission. The $10.2 million, LEED-certified complex will open as one of the finest softball stadiums in not just the Big Ten, but in all of collegiate softball. Fans will have all the amenities that come with a first-class ballpark with full service concession stand and bathrooms on the wrap-around concourse as well as chair-back seating and terrific sightlines from all angles. Additionally, the stadium will feature a new scoreboard with adjoining video board to enhance the fan experience for all games played at Beard Field.
Parking for all games will be free of charge and can be found on site at the complex. Visitors will have to use the entrance off Park Avenue, which is located between University Drive and Bigler Road near the East Halls dormitories. The ballpark ticket office is located to the right of the main gate.
All fans that attend this week's games will receive free posters and magnets commemorating the 2011 season and the inaugural opening of Nittany Lion Softball Park. The Nittany Lions are off to a 13-11 start after an upset victory over then-No. 9 Oklahoma this weekend at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif. Pitching has paced Penn State as the staff with a 1.64 earned run average and eight shutouts.
