UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Junior Sharaya Musser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) has been named Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week. This is Musser's second award of the season and the seventh of her career. She shares this week's honor with Nebraska's Lora Evenstad.
Musser led the No. 9 Nittany Lions to a second place finish in their home opener on Jan. 21 when they hosted No. 5 Alabama, Big Ten foe Michigan State and Cornell. Musser brought home three titles, including her third all-around crown of the season and two individual event titles. She scored a 9.900 on both bars and beam and posted a 39.425 in the all-around. Musser also placed third on vault scoring a 9.875 and 10th on floor with a 9.750.
Penn State heads back on the road for two weekends visiting Big Ten foes Iowa and Minnesota. The Lions take on the Gophers on Jan. 28 and the Hawkeyes on Feb. 3.
