UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Junior Sharaya Musser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) has been named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the fourth time this season and the ninth time in her career. This is also the second weekly award in a row one of the nation's top all-around competitors.
Musser led the No. 10 Nittany Lions to a second place finish in a quad meet hosted by No. 21 N.C. State with George Washington and William & Mary. The Nittany Lions scored a season-high 196.650.
Musser claimed the all-around title with a score of 39.525. It is her sixth win of the season. In addition, Musser also won beam, tying her career high with a 9.950, and bars with a 9.900. Musser also placed second on vault with a 9.875 and finished seventh on floor with a 9.800.
Penn State is back in action this weekend at Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions host SUNY-Brockport, while the Penn State men's team hosts Big Ten foe Illinois to make it a double dual meet. The meet is set for a 7 p.m. start.
