Men's Volleyball Sweeps EIVA Weekly Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's volleyball team (10-1, 4-0 EIVA) swept this week's EIVA weekly awards. Redshirt freshman Nick Goodell (Ambridge, Pa.) was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week, while redshirt freshman Connor Curry (Newport Beach, Calif.) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The pair guided Penn State to two EIVA wins over the weekend against Harvard and Sacred Heart to remain undefeated in league play.

Goodell started both matches at outside hitter. He hit an astounding .750 against Harvard after tallying 14 kills on 20 errorless swings. His .750 hitting percentage was a career-best. Against Sacred Heart, Goodell was second on the team with eight kills on .429 hitting. He also contributed four digs and a block. For the weekend, Goodell hit .618 and led the team with 23 kills, averaging 4.60 kills per set.

Curry was the starting libero for the Nittany Lions against the Crimson and Pioneers. Curry combined to lead the team with 22 digs, averaging 3.67 digs per set. Against Harvard, Curry posted nine digs and his effective passing helped Penn State hit .544. At Sacred Heart, Curry posted a career-high 13 digs.

Penn State returns home this weekend to host Princeton and George Mason. Action against the Tigers is set for 7 p.m. on Feb. 24 and the Nittany Lions face George Mason on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. Both matches are at Rec Hall.
