UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.; MARCH 15, 2012 - Penn State junior guard Tim Frazier (Houston, Texas) has been named to the All-District 7 second-team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Frazier's selection marks the fourth-straight season in which the Nittany Lions have earned a selection to the NABC All-District teams and the eighth since 2001.
A first-team All-Big Ten selection by the conference media, Frazier led the Big Ten posting 6.2 assists per game and finished second in scoring (18.8) and steals (2.4) in the conference while leading the Big Ten with 17 20-point games, including his Penn State Big Ten Tournament record equaling 26 vs. Indiana in the Lions' first round conference tournament loss. Frazier's 198 assists on the year set a new Penn State season record and he became just the fifth Nittany Lion to score 600 points in a season with his 602 ranking as the seventh-best mark all-time. He also ranked fifth all-time on the Penn State charts with 76 steals on the year, becoming the first Lion to post a top 10 season in all three categories in the same year.
The NABC named athletes to All-District teams from 24 regions. District 7 is made up of the Big Ten Conference schools. The NABC named Draymond Green (Michigan State), Jared Sullinger (Ohio State), Jordan Taylor (Wisconsin), William Buford (Ohio State) and John Shurna (Northwestern) to the District 7 first-team. Frazier was joined by Cody Zeller (Indiana), Robbie Hummel (Purdue), Trey Burke (Michigan) and Brandon Paul (Illinois) on the second-team.
Frazier joins Talor Battle (2009, 2010 and 2011), Jamelle Cornley (2009), Geary Claxton (2006 and 2007) and Joe Crispin (2001) among recent Nittany Lion NABC All-District selections.
