UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Junior Sharaya Musser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) has been named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the sixth time this season and the 11th time in her career, conference officials announced Monday. Musser now owns the record for conference gymnast of the week awards in a single season.
Musser continued proving she is one of the top all-arounders in the country winning her 10th all-around crown of the season on March 17. She tied her season best score of 39.650 on her way to helping Penn State to a 196.500-195.550 victory against Maryland at home in Rec Hall.
In addition to the all-around title, Musser also won three individual events and finished second in a fourth. Musser tied her season-high one vault with a 9.950, scored a 9.875 on beam and matched her personal best on floor with a 9.950 to win all three events. Her 9.875 on the uneven bars earned her a second place finish.
The Nittany Lions travel to Iowa City, Iowa for the Big Ten Championships on March 24. The University of Iowa is serving as host. The meet will take place in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
