UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Redshirt freshman Connor Curry (Newport Beach, Calif.) was named the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. This is the third honor of Curry's career.
Curry was the starting libero for the Nittany Lions against both NJIT and Rutgers-Newark on March 23-24. Curry led the team in digs with 18, averaging 2.57 digs per set. His effective passing aided Penn State to a .339 hitting percentage for the week. Against NJIT, Curry matched his personal best with 13 digs, and he had zero reception errors in 16 attempts. Against Rutgers-Newark, Curry was second on the team in digs with five and had only two reception errors in 10 attempts.
Penn State concludes its seven-match road trip this weekend at Princeton and George Mason. The Nittany Lions face Princeton on March 30 at 7 p.m. followed by George Mason on March 31, also at 7 p.m.
