Pavlik Becomes 12th Coach to Join Penn State Coaches Caravan

April 25, 2012

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's volleyball head coach Mark Pavlik plans to join the Penn State Coaches Caravan for its six final stops, which span May 14-16. The long-time Nittany Lion mentor is the 12th head coach scheduled to participate in the Coaches Caravan.

The Penn State Coaches Caravan is sponsored by The Nittany Lion Club and the Penn State Alumni Association and is an opportunity for alumni and fans to meet and hear from leaders within Penn State Athletics. The Coaches Caravan will visit seven states and Washington D.C., beginning April 30 with two events in Philadelphia.

"I am really looking forward to being a part of the Penn State Coaches Caravan," said Pavlik. "It is always wonderful to get out and meet Penn State fans and get to know those people who support us most. In regards to men's volleyball, we have had a lot of successful players from western Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio and it'll be great to get back to those areas and visit fans."

Nittany Lion football coach Bill O'Brien will headline the bus tour for all 18 stops and will be joined at the Philadelphia events by Patrick Chambers (Nittany Lion Basketball) and Char Morett (field hockey). The Coaches Caravan continues to Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Richmond, Va. and Harrisburg on May 1 and 2.

Pavlik, who led Penn State to the 2008 NCAA Championship, is joining the Coaches Caravan for its six final events beginning on May 14 with a breakfast at Penn State Altoona. The caravan will make an evening stop in Pittsburgh on the 14th before traveling to Youngstown, Ohio and Cleveland on May 15. The Penn State Coaches Caravan concludes its three-week trip with visits to Penn State Erie and Buffalo, N.Y. on May 16.

Other Penn State coaches attending the May 14-16 events include O'Brien, women's basketball head coach Coquese Washington, men's ice hockey head coach Guy Gadowsky and women's ice hockey head coach Josh Brandwene.
