UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Redshirt freshman Nick Goodell (Ambridge, Pa.) was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. This is the third honor of the season for Goodell.
Goodell aided Penn State to two conference wins as the Nittany Lions clinched its 28th EIVA Championship title and improved to 13-0 in league play. Penn State defeated Sacred Heart, 3-0, on Friday, April 6 before taking down Harvard, 3-2, on April 7.
For the weekend, Goodell led the Lions with 33 kills on .443 hitting and tied for first on the team with 16 digs. He was second on the team in both aces and blocks, with three and seven, respectively. Against the Pioneers, Goodell was second on the team with 11 kills on a team-high .474 hitting. He also posted a team-best eight digs and was second among the Nittany Lions with six blocks. Against Harvard, Goodell led PSU with 22 kills with a .429 hitting percentage. He was third on the team with eight digs and also had one block and two aces.
Penn State hits the road against on April 13-14 when it travels to BYU. The Nittany Lions have back-to-back matches against the Cougars both beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
