Krawczyk Qualifies for Semifinals Tonight on NBC

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State junior Merritt Krawczyk (Kingwood, Texas) has qualified with the No. 16 seed in tonight's 200 IM semifinal for the United State Olympic Trials. The event will be broadcasted live tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBC from Omaha, Neb.

Krawczyk posted a time of 2:15.96 earlier this morning to earn the No. 16 seed for the semifinals. She is one of six Nittany Lion swimmers that earned first team All-Big Ten recognition this past season. Krawczyk was also part of the Big Ten champion 400 medley relay team back in March.

Penn State swimming will has 34 current, former and future student-athletes participating in the United States Olympic Trials hosted by the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. The trials will conclude on July 2.

The Nittany Lion contingent features eight alumni including recent graduates Mitch Scherer, Scott Marino and Sam Palser. Scherer (100 and 200 Breast), Marino (200 and 400 IM) and Palser (50 free) completed their Nittany Lion careers on March. Twenty-six Penn State student-athletes currently on the team or about to join the squad in August fill out the Nittany Lion roster at the U.S. Trials.
