UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; Sept. 3, 2012 - Penn State students have an opportunity to make the trip to Charlottesville and attend the Nittany Lions' Sept. 8 clash against Virginia. Students who want to attend the game can purchase a ticket at Gate B (northeast corner) of the Bryce Jordan Center beginning Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7 a.m.
The Nittany Lions will playing their first road game under Coach Bill O'Brien. The teams will be meeting for the first time since 2002 and the first time in Charlottesville since 2001.
A limited number of student tickets will be made available on a first-come, first served basis for the contest at Scott Stadium. Each student will be permitted to purchase one $70 ticket and must present a valid Penn State ID+ Card to secure a ticket. All sales of all tickets will be done on a cash only basis. Credit cards and checks will not be accepted.
If student tickets still remain after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, the sale will move from Gate B to the Athletic Ticket Office inside the BJC. Student tickets will not be available after 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
Public tickets for Saturday's contest are available at www.virginiasports.com.
Penn State (0-1) and Virginia (1-0) will meet Saturday at 12:00 p.m. The game will air nationally on ABC, the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.
Students wanting to purchase tickets so that they may sit together at the Virginia game will need to make their ticket purchase together at Gate B of the BJC on Tuesday morning. Students may arrive at the Jordan Center at 6 a.m. on Tuesday for the sale.
Should demand dictate it, tickets will be sold through a wristband lottery. If the number of students in line by 7 a.m. exceeds the number of student tickets allocated for the Virginia game, a wristband lottery will be held. Students not in line by the time of the sale, 7 a.m., will not be included in the wristband lottery, should one be held.
Penn State students will have an opportunity to purchase tickets for every away game the Monday prior to each contest, starting with the Big Ten opener at Illinois (game on Sept. 29).
Penn State leads the Virginia series, 4-2, owning a 2-1 edge in games played in Charlottesville. The teams will meet in Beaver Stadium on Sept. 14, 2013.
