Januskova and Utting to Play in ITA All-American Championships

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Senior Petra Januskova (Ottawa, Canada) and Junior Chelsea Utting (Peachtree City, Georgia) were selected over the weekend to take part in the 2012 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.

The Championships will begin with the pre-qualifying rounds on Sept. 29 & 30 at UCLA. The qualifying rounds will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 2 and Wednesday, Oct. 3. Main draw matches are scheduled to begin Oct. 4 and conclude Sunday, Oct. 7.

Petra Januskova was selected for the main draw this year after posting an impressive 17-6 record in singles action last season. With two previous appearances in the All-American Championships under her belt, Petra hopes that her third time is the charm, and she can bring home the championship.

Januskova competed in the pre-qualifying round at last year's Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships where she won her first two matches before being ousted in her third and final match of the round. In the 2010 championship, she was selected to the qualifying round as a sophomore where she was knocked out in her second match.

Chelsea Utting

Chelsea Utting was also named to the All-American Championships at the Riviera where she will begin competing in the pre-qualifying round of action of the singles competition along with Januskova. In addition to that, Utting will also be competing in the qualifying round of the doubles competition with Petra. Chelsea will be making her first appearance at the All-American Championships after compiling a solid 15-8 record in her first full season with Penn State last year.
