Women's Golf Team Continues to be in Contention in Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Penn State golf team recorded a team score of 296, finishing the day at 13 over par-72 after day two at the Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston. Through two rounds, Penn State has a total score of 589, leaving them in 13th place with one round left tomorrow.

Penn State was again led by juniors Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) and Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.). Vosters led the Nittany Lions with another solid round of 1 under par-72. Vosters is tied for 12th place with one round remaining, only 7 shots behind the leader Camilla Hedberg of University of Florida.

Ceresko finished the day with a 1 over par-72, finishing two rounds with a combined score of 144, leaving her tied for 22nd place.

Coach Denise St. Pierre reflected on day two at the Cougar Classic, stating "We are confident with our position. The team played very consistently and in good shape heading into the final round tomorrow. We are very excited to be ahead of several top teams up to this point."

Florida overtook the lead from USC, shooting an 11 under par-72; three strokes ahead of second place USC. Camilla Hedberg of Florida holds the lead after two rounds, posting a 9 under par-72, holding a two shot lead over her teammate Isabelle Lendl.

The third and final round is tomorrow September 11th with 9 a.m. shotgun start at the Yeaman's Golf Club.
