UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Hockey unveiled Tuesday the jerseys it will wear during its first NCAA Division I season in 2012-13. Sophomore forwards Max Gardiner (Deephaven, Minn.) and Tommy Olczyk (Long Grove, Ill.) debuted the jerseys for the men's hockey team at a press conference in Beaver Stadium.

"As we designed the jerseys with Nike, we aimed to develop a classic, yet cutting-edge look that will provide optimal comfort and performance for our student-athletes," said head coach Guy Gadowsky. "I know our players are very excited to wear these jerseys for the first time on Oct. 12 as we embark on this historic season."

Inspired by the classic design that is synonymous with Penn State, the home whites will feature the Nittany Lion logo in the center of the chest, with a navy stripe around the arms and near the bottom of the jersey. Names with navy letters will adorn the back of the jersey, while navy numbers will appear on the arms and back.

The navy jerseys also will feature the Penn State logo on the front and white numbers on the back and shoulders. The road blues will have white stripes on the arms and near the bottom of the jersey.

Fans can order jerseys at the Penn State Bookstore at the HUB-Robeson Center and All-Sports Museum, or by calling 814-863-0205. Replica jerseys will cost $75 (youth) and $80 (adult) and will be shipped early October. Authentic jerseys will cost $125 and will be delivered early November.

In 2012-13, the Nittany Lions will compete as an independent and play 23 games against NCAA Division I opponents from all five conferences - Atlantic Hockey, CCHA, ECAC Hockey, Hockey East and WCHA - and fellow independent Alabama Huntsville. Penn State will also face off against three NCAA Division III foes, while playing eight exhibition contests.

General public season ticket packages are sold out, but fans will have the opportunity to purchase single-game tickets beginning Sept. 18 at either the Bryce Jordan Center Ticket Office or by calling 1-800-NITTANY. Student ticket packages go on sale Wednesday (Sept. 10) at 7 a.m., and any fan interested in joining the Pegula Ice Arena ticket waiting list can call 1-800-NITTANY.
