Baseball Opens Fall Season with Temple Friday

Sept. 19, 2012

UNVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State baseball team kicks of its fall schedule on Friday, Sept. 21, when it hosts Temple University for a 6 p.m. scrimmage. Gates open at 5 p.m. at Medlar Field, with free t-shirts available to the first 100 students. The game is free and open to the public.

Last season, the Nittany Lions went 15-9 in the Big Ten with a 29-27 overall record. Led by head coach Robbie Wine, Penn State will return at nearly full capacity after graduating only six seniors. Wine hit a career milestone with the 2012 Lions, attaining his 200th win on April 15 in the 6-4 victory over Michigan.

Penn State's fall season will continue through the second week of October, with intrasquad scrimmages taking place every weekend. The scrimmages are also open to the public with free admission. Following the Lions' contest against Temple, the team will host an instrasquad scrimmage on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. at Medlar Field.
