UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; Sept. 23, 2012 - Penn State students have an opportunity to attend the Nittany Lions' Big Ten opener at Illinois on Saturday, Sept. 29. Students who want to attend the game can purchase a ticket at Gate B (northeast corner) of the Bryce Jordan Center beginning Monday, Sept. 24 at 7 a.m.

Coach Bill O'Brien's Nittany Lions bring a two-game winning streak into the contest after defeating Temple, 24-13, Saturday in Beaver Stadium, gaining a season-high 491 yards. Penn State will opening its 20th Big Ten campaign against Leaders Division rival Illinois.

A limited number of student tickets will be made available on a first-come, first served basis for the contest in Champaign. Each student will be permitted to purchase one $50 ticket and must present a valid Penn State ID+ Card to secure a ticket. All sales of all tickets will be done on a cash only basis. Credit cards and checks will not be accepted.

If student tickets still remain after 8:00 a.m. on Monday, the sale will move from Gate B to the Athletic Ticket Office inside the BJC. Student tickets will not be available after 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Public tickets for Saturday's contest are available at www.fightingillini.com.

Penn State (2-2) and Illinois (2-2) will meet Saturday at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN, the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.

Students wanting to purchase tickets so that they may sit together at the Illinois game will need to make their ticket purchase together at Gate B of the BJC on Monday morning. Students may arrive at the Jordan Center at 6 a.m. on Monday for the sale.

Should demand dictate it, tickets will be sold through a wristband lottery. If the number of students in line by 7 a.m. exceeds the number of student tickets allocated for the Illinois game, a wristband lottery will be held. Students not in line by the time of the sale, 7 a.m., will not be included in the wristband lottery, should one be held.

Penn State students will have an opportunity to purchase tickets for every away game the Monday prior to each contest. Following the Illinois game, the next student ticket sale will be October 15 for the Oct. 20 primetime contest at Iowa.

Penn State leads the Illinois series, 6-4. The teams annually meet as Leaders Division rivals.
