UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 1 Penn State women's volleyball team (18-1, 8-0 Big Ten) heads to Columbus, Ohio for a midweek match with No. 20 Ohio State on Oct. 17. Action is set for 8 p.m. and the match will air live on the Big Ten Network.
Nittany Lion Preview
The Penn State women's volleyball team improved to 18-1 and8-0 in the Big Ten with two victories against two Big Ten foes. The Nittany Lions swept No. 17 Purdue (25-19, 25-16, 25-16) and defeated Indiana, 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-21). Junior Deja McClendon (Louisville, Ky.) led Penn State with 3.43 kills per set, while junior Ariel Scott (Ridgewood, N.J.) posted 3.29 kills per set. Sophomore Micha Hancock (Edmond, Okla.) averaged 11.14 assists per set, 0.57 aces per set and 2.86 digs per set. Sophomore Dominique Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas) led the Nittany Lions in the back row with 3.43 digs per set, while sophomore Nia Grant (Warren, Ohio) was a wall at the net with 1.86 blocks per set.
For the week, the Nittany Lions hit .273 and averaged 14.14 kills, 12.86 assists, 1.14 aces, 13.43 digs and 3.57 blocks per set.

Penn State leads the series with Ohio State 38-14. Ohio State's last win against the Nittany Lions was Nov. 8, 2006 with the Buckeyes earning a 3-0 sweep. The Nittany Lions have won the last 10 meetings.

Scouting the Buckeyes
Ohio State currently owns a 14-6 overall record and is 5-3 in Big Ten action. The Buckeyes have conference wins against Iowa (3-0), Wisconsin (3-1), Illinois (3-2), Northwestern (3-0) and Indiana (3-1). Ohio State's three Big Ten losses came at the hands of Nebraska, Minnesota and Purdue.
