UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's volleyball team continued play in its Fall Invitational with a 3-2 (22-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 15-11) win against Laval Saturday evening. In the earlier match, Ohio State defeated Russia State, 3-2, as well.
Redshirt sophomore Nick Goodell (Ambridge, Pa.) had a team-best 12 kills, while junior Peter Russell (Ellicott City, Md.) tallied 11. Redshirt freshman Taylor Hammond (Mission Viejo, Calif.) had 33 assists and freshman Zack Parik (Woodridge, Ill.) totaled 19. Goodell led the Lions in aces with three and redshirt sophomore Connor Curry (Newport Beach, Calif.) had 13 digs. Redshirt freshman Matt Seifert (Reading, Pa.) had a match-high eight total blocks.
Penn State registered a .267 hitting percentage and had 62 kills, five aces, 45 digs and 11.0 total team blocks.The Rouge et Or hit .184 and totaled 47 kills, three aces, 31 digs and 14.0 team blocks.
The Penn State men's volleyball Fall Invitational concludes on Saturday with matches at 2 and 4 p.m. Ohio State takes on Laval at 2 p.m. with Penn State challenging Russia State at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Rec Hall ticket office prior to the matches.
