UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The #6/7 Penn State Lady Lions (3-0) headed West for Thanksgiving and will face Detroit in the opening round of the Radisson Chatsworth Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament at Cal State-Northridge on Friday at 5:30 p.m. (ET). The Lady Lions will face the winner/loser of the game between the host Matadors and South Alabama on Saturday. The consolation game is at 3 p.m. (ET) and the championship contest is at 5:30 p.m. (ET). Both games will air on WRSC 1390 locally with Jerry Fisher calling the action. LAST TIME OUT: The Lady Lions used a balanced offensive attack and runs of 20-0, 14-0 and 9-0 to earn a 75-34 victory over Lafayette Nov. 18. Senior Mia Nickson and junior Maggie Lucas each netted 12 points in the victory. Lucas tallied nine rebounds falling just short of her second career double-double. Every Lady Lion player recorded at least three points while nine of the 10 active players scored five or more. Junior Ariel Edwards chipped in nine points to go along with six rebounds and a block. Senior point guard Alex Bentley added eight points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists.

SCOUTING DETROIT: The Titans have won their last two games after opening the season with a loss at Michigan. Shareta Brown paces Detroit, averaging 25.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She also dishes out 3.0 assists per outing. Audrey Matteson is also averaging double figures for the Titans at an 11.7 per game clip with a 6.3 rebounding average.

ALL-TIME VS. THE TITANS: The Lady Lions were victorious in the only previous meeting with Detroit, picking up a 72-61 win on Jan. 11, 1981. Penn State is 4-1 all-time against current Horizon League schools.

LAST TIME VERSUS UDM: The only time that the Lady Lions and Titans squared off was Jan. 11, 1981 with Penn State earning the 72-61 victory at Rec Hall.Carol Walderman led the Lady Lions with 21 points, while Cindy Davies added 13 points. Cheryl Ellison chipped in seven points and seven boards.

SCOUTING CS-NORTHRIDGE: The Matadors are 2-1 on the season with wins over Portland and Eastern Washington. Ashlee Guay leas CSUN in scoring (15.7), while Marta Masoni chips in 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. In the paint, Camille Mahlknect accounts for 10.0 points and a team-best 8.7 rebounds per outing. She also leads the team in blocks (2.7).

ALL-TIME VS. THE MATADORS: This would be the first-ever meeting between the Lady Lions and Cal State Northridge. Penn State is 4-0 all-time against Big West teams.

SCOUTING SOUTH ALABAMA:The Jaguars are a perfect 4-0 on the season with wins over Houston Baptist, Tennessee State, Southern Mississippi and Southern University. Mary Nixon leads USA with a 19.3 scoring average to go along with 6.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Meghan Dunn chips in 8.8 points per game, while Mansa El adds 7.5 points and 3.8 assists per outing.

ALL-TIME VS. THE JAGUARS: The Lady Lions have never faced South Alabama on the hardwood. Penn State is 4-5 all-time against current Sun Belt schools.

AB REACHES 100 STARTS: For the second time this season, the Lady Lions have had a player reach the century mark for starts. This time it was Alex Bentley, who earned the nod against Lafayette on Nov. 18, joining Nikki Greene among those Lady Lions with 100 or more starts. She is the 12th player in school history to accomplish the feat. She has started 100 of the 102 games that she has played in the Blue & White.

MAGS DRAINS #200 FROM DEEP: Junior guard Maggie Lucas connected on her 200th career three-pointer in the win over Lafayette on Nov. 18. She is the third player in school history to reach 200 triples, joining Kelly Mazzante and Lisa Shepherd.

MIA MEETS MILESTONES: In the Nov. 18 win over Lafayette, senior forward Mia Nickson reached a pair of milestones. The Ashburn, Va. native tallied 12 points to surpass the 600-point mark for her Penn State career. Additionally, Nickson snagged six rebounds to surpass the 500-carom mark for her collegiate career.

3-0 UNDER COQUESE: With wins over Howard, #16/13 Texas A&M and Lafayette to start the season, the Lady Lions have started 3-0 in five of Coquese Washington's six seasons. Penn State's best start under Washington was a 5-0 mark to open the 2010-11 campaign. The Lady Lions have started off 3-0 in six of the last seven seasons.

LUCAS CLIMBS SCORING CHART: With 12 points in the win over Lafayette Nov. 18, junior guard Maggie Lucas passed Kam Gissendanner (1,238; 2006-08) and Tina Nicholson (1,240; 1993-96) to move into 22nd place on Penn State's career scoring chart (1,249). She needs 31 points to tie Louise Leimkuhler (1,280; 1980-82) for 21st place.

NON-CON HOME WINNING STREAK: The Lady Lions have won their last nine non-conference home games, dating back to the 2010-11 season. The streak is tied for the seventh-longest non-conference home court winning streak in school history. Penn State last lost a home non-conference game against Drexel on Dec. 21, 2010. The streak is tied for the ninth-longest in school history.

The 2013 Pink Zone at Penn State will take place on Sunday, Feb. 24 as the Lady Lions take on Michigan in the Bryce Jordan Center. Last year, the Lady Lions donated a record $203,000 to breast cancer causes. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Mount Nittany Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, J.C.
