Yoxheimer Tabbed CHA Rookie of the Month

Dec. 4, 2012

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Freshman forward Shannon Yoxheimer (Jackson, Mich.) was named College Hockey America's Rookie of the Month for her performance during November. Yoxheimer led the Nittany Lions with nine points and helped lead Penn State to a 3-4-0 record last month.

Yoxheimer was Penn State's most powerful weapon offensively, accounting for 39 shots, four goals, five points and nine points during the varsity program's second month. Her four goals were tied for a team-high, while her five assists and nine points were each team bests.

Yoxheimer opened the month with a three-goal, two-assist weekend at home against Sacred Heart in a pair of victories. She scored twice in a 6-0 win on Nov. 2 before a three-point night on Nov. 3 in an 8-2 win over SHU. She then went on to score against defending CHA Tournament champion Robert Morris, capping a seven-game goal-scoring streak.

The following weekend, Yoxheimer played a pivotal role in Penn State's split at Lindenwood with three assists. She tallied two assists in a 3-2 victory on Nov. 17, the first CHA victory for Penn State.

The left winger leads the team in goals (10), points (18) and is tied for second on the team in assists (8), while leading the conference in shots (89). Yoxheimer is also second on the team with a plus-four rating and has tallied a team-best two game-winning goals this season. In 16 games, Yoxheimer has tallied at least a point in 11 contests.

The Nittany Lions look to get back on the winning side of the ledger this weekend when it travels to 2012 NCAA Tournament participant St. Lawrence on Friday at 7 p.m. The two-game series concludes on Saturday at 2 p.m.
