KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Penn State diving team concluded competition at the Tennessee Collegiate Diving Invitational Saturday afternoon, with senior Alex Marchinski (Shillington, Pa.) and sophomore T.J. Schenkel (Richboro, Pa.) leading the Nittany Lions (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten) on the three-meter board.
Marchinski, who recorded the highest score for the Lions on the one-meter board on Thursday, had a 22nd-place showing on the three-meter board with a score of 291.35. Following in the 30th, Schenkel scored 246.20 before recording a score of 212.60 for 25th place in platform diving. It was the sophomore's highest score on the platform board this season.
Also competing on the three-meter board, junior Lucas Kachurick (McKeesport, Pa.) placed 34th with a score of 228.70, while freshman Calvin Morris (Keller, Texas) followed in 38th with 212.80. Rounding out the diving performances for the Lions, sophomore Joe Spinelli recorded a score of 147.95 for 45th place.
Penn State returns to regular season competition on Saturday, Jan. 12 when the Lions travel to Arkansas for a weekend tri-meet against the Razorbacks and Missouri State.The squad will return to Happy Valley on Jan. 26 when Penn State hosts its first home meet of 2013 against Navy.
