Penn State Fencers Return to White Building After Time Off

Jan. 9, 2013

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's and women's fencing team will return to action this weekend in White Building as they host an NCAA competition on Saturday Jan. 12. Competing teams will include Drew, UPenn, Duke, UNC, Columbia, Haverford, and Temple (women's team only), and action is set to begin at 9 a.m.

The team has had over a month off of competition, but will look to continue its successful season this weekend. In the first dual meet of the season, Dec. 1 at Vassar, both teams had impressive performances to start the NCAA season off well. The men's team went 5-0 on the day, and the women's team went 4-1.

Freshmen on the men's team have made a large impact thus far this season, and will be looking to continue their domination. Three-time All-American Margherita Guzzi Vincenti has consistently turned out solid performances for the women's epee team.

The Nittany Lions are seeking their 13th National Title this year, which would be the third in five years (2009, 2010). This Saturday's event is open to the public, and fans are encouraged to attend.

Results will be posted on gopsusports.com at the conclusion of Saturday's duals.
