UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Registration for the 2013 Penn State Girls' Volleyball Camps is now open. There are five camps set for the months of June and July, including an Instructional Camp (June 29-July 2), two Team Camps (July 5-8 & July 8-11) and two Team Competition camps (July 11-13 & July 26-28).
Registration is now open for all five camps and can be completed online. Enrollment is limited and early registration is encouraged. Penn State maintains a wait list for its sports camps should they reach maximum capacity. Registration fees may be paid by credit card via the online system.
The Penn State Girls' Volleyball Camps are designed for students in grades seven through 12 during the fall of 2013. The instructional camp consists of lectures, demonstrations, and individual and team drills. It is designed to teach the fundamentals with an opportunity for individual skill development. Players are grouped by age and experience. The Team Camps are designed to provide varsity high school and/or club teams the chance to train as a team with an outstanding coaching staff. Individual skills, as well as offensive and defensive systems and wash drills are taught. In addition, there are daily competitions and an end-of-camp tournament. In the Team Competition Camps, each camp will feature demonstrations on individual skills and team concepts. Varsity teams will compete in a three-day tournament, while junior varsity teams will train for the first two days before a two session tournament.
Coaching staff for the 2013 camps includes Penn State head women's volleyball coach Russ Rose, assistant coaches Steve Aird and Kaleena Davidson, director of operations Adam Hughes, as well as selected high school and college coaches and varsity players.
All five camps are conducted on Penn State's University Park campus in University Park, Pa. Resident campers are housed in University residence halls and supervised by camp counselors.
