UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Rising sophomore JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) qualified for the Sunnehanna Amateur, one of the top amateur golf tournaments in the country.
To qualify himself for the championship, Dornes shot an even par 72 at the Bedford Springs Golf Club near the site of the Sunnehanna Amateur in Johnstown, Pa.
Penn State golf has solid roots in this tournament, as former Nittany Lion Kevin Foley won the Sunnehanna Amateur in 2009.
Founded in 1954, the 60th annual Sunnehanna Amateur will take place June 13-16.
