DES MOINES, Iowa - Freshman Michael Shuey (Johnsonburg, Pa.), and Rachel Fatherly (Williamsport, Pa.) concluded their freshman campaigns, and capped the Nittany Lion slate of action, Saturday at the USATF Senior and Junior Championships at Drake Stadium.

Shuey turned in the top Nittany Lion finish of the day, taking sixth place in the men's junior javelin with a toss of 200-3 (61.05). Fatherly capped off her three-event schedule at the USATF Championships, finishing 16th overall in the women's junior discus throw.

Also competing was former Nittany Lion standout and NCAA Champion Bridget Franek. Franek placed 12th in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, coming up short of a bid for her third-straight appearance at the IAAF World Championships.

The USATF Championships conclude on Sunday afternoon, with volunteer coach and 2013 world-leader Ryan Whiting, and former Nittany Lion Joe Kovacs slated to compete in the men's shot put. For more on Nittany Lion Track and Field, log on to www.GoPSUsports.com.
