Coquese's Drive Raises $18,334 for the Women's Resource Center

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - One hundred fifteen golfers hit the links at the Penn State Blue Course for the Sixth Annual Coquese's Drive for the Women's Resource Center, hosted by Lady Lion head coach Coquese Washington on Friday. The event was capped off with the presentation of a check for $18,334 from Washington to Centre County Women's Resource Center (CCWRC) director Anne Ard.

Blake Gall, Dave Hellyer, Patrick Bisbey and Dick Althouse won first place on in the open division with a 14-under par 58, while Joan Ritchie, Karen Krupa, Sue Cromwell and Jeanne Andrews claimed top prize in the women's division with an eight-under par 64. Second place in the open division went to Phillip Kimball, James Kohler, Tom Deter and Mike Seidel with a 59 and match of cards. Second place in the women's division went to Karen Taphorn, Kay Kustanbauter, Alice Clark and Diane Romano with a 68.

For the second time in Coquese's Drive history, a golfer had a hole in one. This year, James Moore knocked in the hole in one on the eighth hole to win closest to the pin. In addition to Moore, Jim McCormick (#4; 3'8"), Larry Craig (#14; 2'9") and Bob Cornwall (#17; 6'9") each won closest to the pin prizes, while Steve Moyer and Casey Keiber claimed the men's and women's longest drives, respectively.

The Centre County Women's Resource Center provides services for victims of domestic and/or sexual violence. Counselor/Advocates are available 24 hours a day. There is no cost involved and all services are private.

The CCWRC provided services for 1,300 people last year in Centre County. Domestic and sexual violence happens to millions of people every year; from every religion, race, and economic class, in rural areas and cities, those with a college degree and in elementary school.
