UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's lacrosse head coach Jeff Tambroni announced on Thursday that volunteer assistant coach David Shriver will serve as director of operations for the upcoming 2014 season.
"Our staff is thrilled with the recent hire of David Shriver as our director of lacrosse operations," Tambroni said. "He has been instrumental in our programs progress over the past two years as a volunteer assistant and he will continue to help our program grow in his newly hired role. We feel very fortunate to have him represent Penn State lacrosse for another year."
Shriver, who has coached for two years under Tambroni, is instrumental with the team's offense by developing the extra-man unit and offensive personnel. Penn State's offense has improved each of the past two seasons under Shriver's assistance from 8.14 (2011) to 10.47 (2013).
"First off, I want to give a big thank you to Dave Joyner, Jan Bortner, and Coach Tambroni for this phenomenal opportunity," Shriver said. "I am thrilled to have the chance to continue to be at Penn State University with such an outstanding staff and an excellent group of student-athletes. I am very fortunate to be able to keep working with and learning from great mentors in Coach Tambroni, Coach Toner, and Coach Doctor. I can't wait to get to work in the new role as we prepare for the 2014 season."
Shriver was a four-year letter winner at Georgetown following a successful high school career at Boys' Latin School in Maryland and the Salisbury School in Connecticut. At Georgetown Shriver was elected captain his senior year.
