Nittany Lions Set for Wolverine Intercollegiate

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team travels to Ann Arbor, Mich. this weekend to compete in the Wolverine Intercollegiate, a two-day, 54-hole tournament beginning Monday, Sept. 16.

The 6,704 yard, par 71 UM Golf Course plays host to an 11-team field, including Penn State, Detroit, Eastern Michigan, Lamar, tournament host Michigan, Michigan State, Miami (Ohio), Oakland, San Jose State, Toledo, and Xavier.

Juniors Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) and Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) and sophomores Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.), Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.), and JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) will be contributing to the Nittany Lion team score. Senior captain Shane Stewart (Dublin, Ohio) will be competing as an individual.

The first round of play kicks off Monday, Sept. 16 with tee times beginning at 8 a.m, followed by 1 p.m. second-round tee times. Live scoring for the Wolverine Intercollegiate will be available on www.golfstat.com.
