Zach Zwinak Named Ironman of the Game for UCF Contest

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -

Running Back Zach Zwinak has been named this week's Iron Workers Local Union No.3 "Ironman of the Game." On Saturday, the senior recorded a career best of three touchdowns. In the event against UCF, Zwinak reached 128 yards in 21 attempts.

In the 2012 season, Zwinak started four games with appearances in all 12. He was the 22nd Nittany Lion to achieve 1,000-yard rushing season in Penn State history. He ended the season earning the 1,000 yard achievement along with his career best of 179 yards for 36 carries in the contest against Wisconsin. In 2012, the running back recorded a total of 203 carries, six touchdowns, and four consecutive 100-yard games with an averaged 113 yards per Big Ten game. This week's Ironman was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection after the conclusion of last season.

In the 2011 season, the Frederick native appeared in two contests against Eastern Michigan and Indiana State. He logged eight carries that season.

As a senior, the Linagnore High School student ran 2,109 yards on 164 carries. He was named all-state his junior year rushing 1,447 yards that season. Zwinak was selected to play in the 2010 U.S Army All-American Bowl.
