UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's golf team wrapped up their first round of play at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate with a score of 292. The Nittany Lions are currently tied with Chattanooga for seventh place. Round two begins tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Junior Erin Michel (Mason, Ohio) set the pace for the Nittany Lions as she shot an even par 71, which put her in a tie for 15th place. Michel, who played in three rounds last season, didn't wait long to make her mark, as her first round 71 is a career low. Junior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) followed right behind Michel as Ceresko shot a one over par 72 and is in a tie for 19th place.

South Carolina jumped out to an early lead as they shot a first round 279. They hold a three shot lead on second place Arkansas. Katelyn Dambaugh of South Carolina and Fanny Cnops of UCF share the lead for the individual portion of the tournament as they both shot first round scores of 68, which gives them a one shot lead over five golfers that sit in a tie for third place.
