PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Mael Borboz scored a pair of second half goals to lead the Rutgers men's soccer team to a 4-1 defeat of Penn State Friday night at Yurcak Field. It was the first loss of the season for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State (2-1-0) will take a short break before returning to action Sunday night in Queens, N.Y. against No. 23 St. John's. The match will be aired nationally on ESPN3.

Martin Seiler (Stuttgart, Germany) scored the lone goal for the Nittany Lions - his first in a Penn State uniform - to cut the Rutgers lead to 3-1. The defender caught goalkeeper David Greczek off his line with a free kick into the corner.

Penn State dominated the opening moments of the game, firing four shots in less than 10 minutes. The strong play nearly resulted in a goal, but Eli Dennis' (Easton, Md.) header rocked the crossbar and Mark Wadid's (Missisauga, Ontario) follow-up sailed over the net.

Rutgers (1-1-1) awoke midway through the first half, leading to a long ball from Erik Sa to Kene Eze in the 30th minute. Eze managed to hold off Akil Howard (Queens, N.Y.) and beat Andrew Wolverton (Atlanta, Ga.) for the opening goal.

The Scarlet Knights then scored a critical goal just after the halftime break as Eze dribbled down the left flank and into the box with a strong individual effort. Eze's cross was parried by Wolverton, but Ross Tetro was there to finish the rebound and give Rutgers a 2-0 lead

Borboz then put Rutgers ahead by three with a free kick goal from just outside the box in the 56th minute. Seiler scored for Penn State seven minutes later, but Borboz promptly responded with a header off a corner kick to regain the Knights' three-goal advantage.
