UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After over two weeks without competition, the Penn State men's golf team will return to the links at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Oct. 11-13 in Jonesborough, Tenn.
The par-72, 7,147 yard Blackthorn Club at The Ridges will welcome a 14-team field, including Penn State, Army, Coastal Carolina, ETSU, Furman, Kent State, Memphis, Missouri, Tennessee, Villanova, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and UNC Wilmington.
Juniors Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) and Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) will look to lead the Nittany Lions throughout the three-day tournament, as well as sophomores JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) and Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn. ). Making his first Penn State career start will be freshman Cody Cox (Milford, Pa.), and freshman Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) will also be making his first trip for the Lions playing as an individual.
In 2012, Missouri took the first place crown at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, posting a 7-under team score of 857. Grant Milner of Memphis earned the individual championship with a 10-under 206.
Tournament play will begin with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. both Friday and Saturday. Sunday, half the field will tee off from hole one at 8:30 a.m., while the second half will tee off from hole ten at 9 a.m.
