Oct. 25, 2013

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State Nittany Lions return to Pegula Ice Arena to host RIT on Friday evening at 7 p.m. The Nittany Lions (1-2-0) will look to get back in the win column against the Tigers (0-3-1), after dropping a pair of games at Air Force last weekend.

Penn State opened the 2013-14 season with a 4-1 victory over Army, their first contest in their home venue, before dropping a 5-2 decision on Friday night and 3-1 contest on Saturday against the Falcons.

The two teams met once last season, a 3-2 victory for Penn State on Oct. 20, 2012. In the game PJ Musico made 40 saves, including 19 in the third period, and three different players netted goals for the Blue and White.

The first two tallies for the Nittany Lions came at even strength, with Curtis Loik recording his first career goal to open the scoring and Casey Bailey scoring his second goal of the season. Max Gardiner got his first career goal with 14 minutes left in the third period on the power play, with was the eventual game winner.

The Tigers have not been able to find their way into the win column yet this season, but their schedule hasn't exactly been the easiest, either. They opened the season with losses to Colegate and Michigan, before posting an 0-1-1 mark vs. Clarkson - who is receiving votes in the latest USCHO.com poll - last weekend.
