Tyler Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

Oct. 28, 2013

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Redshirt-junior forward Jordan Tyler (Rochester, Mich.) was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Monday following his two-goal, conference clinching game over Northwestern.

Tyler, who returned to the Penn State (10-3-1, 5-0-0 Big Ten) lineup following an ACL tear in 2012, has been Penn State's most lethal weapon during Penn State's undefeated run through the Big Ten. On Sunday at Jeffrey Field, Tyler scored with 1:47 left in regulation to force overtime before completing the comeback with another tally just 90 seconds from full time.

Tyler has five goals for the season with four of them coming in game-winning fashion. The redshirt-junior leads the Big Ten during conference play in goals (4), points (8) and game-winning goals (3). Tyler has won the past two games for Penn State in double-overtime following his dramatic winner at Michigan State on Oct. 20 prior to his excellent showing against Northwestern.

The honor for Tyler is his first Big Ten accolade of any kind, while Penn State has hauled in six Big Ten weekly honors.

Penn State has gone 8-1-1 in its past 10 matches with a tie over No. 5 Cal and wins over No. 14 Michigan State and No. 19 Northwestern. The Nittany Lions travel to Philadelphia tomorrow night to face the Penn Quakers at 7 p.m.
