ROSEMONT, Ill. - Laura Gebhart (Mount Joy, Pa.) and Ashtin Klingler (Selinsgrove, Pa.) have been selected to the Big Ten All-Tournament team for their solid performances in Friday's semifinal match vs. Iowa.
The select of Gebhart was the second for the junior in her three years with the Nittany Lions. Gebhart earned the selection last season, as she helped lead the team to its second-straight Big Ten Tournament title. Klingler, a 2013 second team All-Big Ten selection, garnered the recognition for the first time in her career.
Neither player filled the stat sheet in Friday's match, but both Gebhart and Klingler put in an excellent day of work vs. Iowa. Gebhart managed the midfield and connected the defense and attack all game, while Klingler made great runs, putting the Hawkeye defense under constant pressure all match.
The two Penn State selections mark the ninth consecutive season that the Blue and White has had multiple players earn the honor. The Nittany Lions have now had 38 players awarded the accolade since the inception of the honor in 1997.
The Nittany Lions have to wait and see if they receive an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. Penn State will learn its fate on Sunday night at 10 p.m. when the bracket is released.
