Lions Earn NCAA Championship At-Large Bid

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's cross country team earned one of 13 at-large bids to the 2013 NCAA Cross Country Championships, the NCAA announced Saturday. The women's field will consist of 31 teams, including 18 automatic qualifiers, as well as 38 individual qualifiers.

Hosted by Indiana State, the 2013 NCAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships will take place at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center Saturday, Nov. 23. The men's race, which will feature Nittany Lion individual qualifier Matt Fischer (Kennett Square, Pa.), will begin at noon, while the women's race will start at approximately 1:15 p.m.

The Nittany Lion women advanced to the NCAA championships for the fifth straight year and 18th time since 1981. Penn State's secured five top-10 finishes in its NCAA history and placed 14th in 2012.
