UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Senior defender Abby Fuhrman (Bainbridge, Pa.) has been selected to play in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. The game will be held in Norfolk, Va. as part of the final four weekend festivities.
The senior scored her first two career goals this season, while also playing a vital central defender position for the Nittany Lions. The defender helped the Blue and White tie for the most shutouts in the Big Ten with seven while allowing just 32 goals all season, the second fewest of any team in the conference.
Fuhrman has recently received recognition from the NFHCA, earning All-Mideast first team recognition earlier this week for the first time in her career. The Bainbridge native was also named one of the Big Ten's Sportsmanship Award Honorees, which is granted to a student-athlete who has distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior while also maintaining good academic standing and demonstrating good citizenship outside of the sport.
The senior helped lead the Nittany Lions to their second-straight Big Ten regular season title this season and their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth. The Blue and White finished with an overall record of 13-6, and an impressive 5-1 mark in Big Ten play.
