Challenging 2013-14 Slate Awaits Nittany Lions

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Coming off of a highly successful year that featured an undefeated regular-season, three-time National Coach of the Year Randy Jepson and the Penn State men's gymnastics team are hard at work preparing for another season. This year's slate features contests against six teams ranked within the College Gymnastics Association's preseason top-15 national coaches' poll.

Ranked fifth in the poll, the Nittany Lion return six All-Americans in 2013-14, including sophomore Trevor Howard, who earned Penn State's first individual national championship title in the floor exercise in 50 years.

Penn State opens the season at home, hosting the Blue-White Showcase, an exhibition match set for Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions officially kick of the 2014 slate Saturday, Jan. 11th, welcoming No. 15 Army to University Park. PSU hits the road for the West Point Open, traveling to West Point, N.Y. to compete in the two-day meet scheduled for January 17th - 18th.

The Lions remain on the road, traveling to Annapolis, Md. to compete in the Navy Open, Saturday, Jan. 25, before returning home for a pair of contests in Rec Hall. Penn State begins the two-week homestand with a meet against No. 12 Temple Saturday, Feb. 8th, before hosting sixth-ranked Illinois, its first Big Ten opponent of the season, Saturday, Feb. 15th.

Next up, PSU returns to the road, traveling to Las Vegas to participate in the two-day Winter Cup, slated for Thursday, Feb. 20th to Saturday, Feb. 22nd. Penn State briefly heads home to take on No. 9 Minnesota, before embarking on its ninth trip in program history to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to square off against the Caribbean Island's national team. The Nittany Lions then head to Ann Arbor to face defending National Champion, Michigan Saturday, March 15th.

After concluding the regular season, Penn State will compete in the Big Ten Championship, March 28th - 29th in Lincoln, Nebraska. Michigan is hosting this year's NCAA Championship in Ann Arbor, beginning with the qualifier on Thursday, April 10th and concluding with the individual finals on Saturday, April 12th.

Both season and single meet tickets are now available for purchase. Season tickets are sold for just men's events as well as double dual meets. Each package is sold separately and priced at $12 for adults and $8 for youth ages 12 and under.

Single meet tickets can be purchased in person at the Athletics Ticket Office in the Bryce Jordan Center, or by calling 1-800 NITTANY. Tickets are also available at the Rec Hall ticket window on the day of the event. Single tickets are priced at $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 12 and under.

Groups are also welcome to purchase tickets at a discounted rate, which is $4 for advance orders and $5 for orders taken at the door.
