UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's cross country team, along with the men's squad's Matt Fischer (Kennett Square, Pa.), will compete at the 2013 NCAA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., Saturday afternoon.

Hosted by Indiana State, the NCAA championships will take place at the Wabash Family Sports Center's LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course. The men's 10,000-meter race will begin at noon, while the women's 6,000-meter race will start at approximately 1:15 p.m.

The Nittany Lion women, who finished third at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, punched their ticket to Terre Haute as one of 13 at-large selections. With the bid, Penn State advanced to the NCAA championships for the fifth straight year and 18th time since 1981. The Nittany Lions have secured five top-10 finishes in their NCAA history and placed 14th in 2012.

Fischer qualified for the NCAA championships with a fourth-place outing at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Earlier this season at the Big Ten championships, the Kennett Square, Pa., native became the Nittany Lions' best finisher at the conference meet with a third-place effort.
