KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Penn State women's soccer senior Maya Hayes (West Orange, N.J.) has been named an NSCAA second team All-American, the NSCAA released on Friday afternoon. The announcement comes three days after Hayes was selected as a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist.
Hayes is now a three-time NSCAA All-America honoree as she also earned the accolade in 2011 and 2012. She is just the seventh Nittany Lion to receive All-America recognition three times. The senior had an exceptional senior campaign as she finished second in the Big Ten and is eighth in the nation in goals and points this season with 19 and 44, respectively. Hayes led the Blue and White to their 19th straight NCAA Tournament appearance, averaging one goal per game during the regular season.
The All-Big Ten first team selection claimed the No. 3 spot on Penn State's career goals and points lists, amassing 71 goals and 21 assists for 163 points in her four seasons as a Nittany Lion. The forward leads all active Division I players in goals, ranks second in points and is one just of 23 current athletes to record over 30 goals and 20 assists.
