Fencers Compete at St. John's University

Updated PSU Fencing Stats

Today, the men and women's fencing teams traveled to St. John's University to compete in a meet against St. John's, Columbia, Harvard, OSU, and Notre Dame.

The men's team had a strong showing today, toppling three out of the five schools present. Penn State beat St. John's 17-10, Columbia 14-13, and OSU 21-6. Penn State fell to Harvard 11-16 and Notre Dame 12-15.

The women's team managed to keep most of their competition close but they still fell short today against the five competing schools. Penn State lost to St. John's 11-16, Columbia 12-15, Harvard 12-15, OSU 9-18, and Notre Dame 11-16. Full team stats can be found in the PDF above. Stand out individual results are as followed:

Freshman Conor Shepard went 4-1 in men's epee only falling to Harvard.

In the men's epee competition sophomore Nobou Bravo (San Francisco, Calif.), senior Jeremy Goldstein (Westport, Conn.), and senior David Willette (Lafayette, Calif.) all went 3-2 in competition today.

Sophomore Kaito Streets (Redwood City, Calif.) had an outstanding performance toppling all five schools in competition. Streets was the only fencer to do so in today's competition.

Sophomore Jessica O'Neill-Lyubinsky (North Salem, N.Y.) went 4-1 in women's epee beating all schools except falling short to St. John's.

Senior Nicole Glon (State College, Pa.) finished 4-1 on the day in women's saber. Glon beat all competing schools except Harvard. Also in women's saber, freshman Teodara Kakhiani (Tbilisi, Georgia) went 3-2 today and had an impressive showing against St. John's, Columbia, and Notre Dame.

Your Nittany Lions return to action Saturday, February 8th where they will travel to Notre Dame University and compete against them, OSU, WSU, and Stanfard.
