Jan. 29, 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 12 Penn State men's volleyball team, a member of the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA), is set to participate in the "EIVA Rallies" campaign for the second consecutive season. The annual campaign benefits the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

"The EIVA partnership with Sloan Kettering and cancer research touches all of us," head coach Mark Pavlik said. "We all know someone who has been affected by cancer. I think the EIVA, and all the coaches and players understand how meaningful it is to support cancer research and the efforts Sloan Kettering."

Beginning this weekend, Penn State head coach Mark Pavlik will help raise awareness for the campaign by wearing a fedora in the Nittany Lions' matchup against travel partner, Saint Francis, Saturday, Feb. 1. He will once again don the hat, when PSU visits the Red Flash Saturday, April 12.

The Nittany Lions will also host a silent auction during Saturday's match on the west mezzanine level of the main gym in Rec Hall. All proceeds generated from the sale of the exciting items will be donated to the cause.

The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is one of the largest and oldest private cancer centers. Throughout its history, the center has dedicated more than 100 years to patient care and innovative research.

Coach Pavlik and the rest of the EIVA teams hope fans will join the cause and support the mission of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
