Feb. 17, 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - A pair of Nittany Lions earned weekly track & field honors from the Big Ten today after outstanding performances this past weekend at the SPIRE D-I Invitational. Junior Steve Waithe (Parkville, Md.) earned Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week while sophomore Kiah Seymour (Washington, D.C.) was tabbed Co-Track Athlete of the Week.

Waithe posted a personal best jump of 16 meters this past weekend to earn first place in the triple jump. His mark is one of the top 10 scores nationally. The Big Ten weekly honor is the first of Waithe's career and marks the first time a Nittany Lion has been named Indoor Field Athlete of the Week since Jan. 9, 2012.

Seymour set a personal record in the 400-meter dash and her time of 52.74 is currently eighth nationally this season. She was also part of the 4x400 meter relay team that took the top spot at the SPIRE Invitational over the weekend, finishing in a time of 3:35.31.
