UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - On the strength of a nine-spot jump for the women's squad, both Penn State track & field teams are now amongst the Top 10 in the nation. Penn State's men's team moved up one spot from seventh to sixth this week in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings, while the women's team catapulted from No. 19 to No. 10.

"It is an exciting time to have both teams ranked in the top 10," said Head Coach and Director of Track & Field Beth Alford-Sullivan. "As we prepare for our championship drive this is great motivation."

The national team rankings are complied by mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists. The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Rankings points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points. A full description of the rankings can be found here.

The Nittany Lions are off this weekend before heading to Geneva, Ohio for the Big Ten Indoor Championships at the SPIRE Institute on Feb. 28-March 1.
