UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The wait for the beginning of the spring season has finally come to an end as the Penn State women's golf team heads south to South Carolina for the Kiawah Island Classic. The College of Charleston is hosting this event for the sixth straight year. The three-day tournament is taking place at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort at either the Cougar Point Course or the Oak Point Course. Both courses are par-72 and the Cougar Point Course is a thousand yards longer.
The tournament takes place from March 2-4. Sunday's tee time is set for 9:45 a.m. while Monday's tee times begin at 9:00 a.m. Both courses are going to be used for these two days. Tuesday's tee time is set for 9:00 a.m. with the top 19 teams from the previous two days playing in the championship flight at the Cougar Point Course. The other teams will compete at the Oak Point Course as a consolation round.
The 35-team field is the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country. Among the teams include seven ranked teams, including: No. 30 Arkansas State, No. 38/40 Kent State, No. 45/55 College of Charleston, No.70/71 Chattanooga, No. 89 Jacksonville State, No. 91/97 Samford, and No. 73/74 Penn State.
