UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- With two rounds of the SunTrust Gator Invitational in the books, Penn State finds themselves in ninth after posting a second round 303. The Nittany Lions have recorded 593 strokes through two rounds, just four strokes behind eighth place Oklahoma. The third and final round is set for Sunday, March 16 with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
Sophomore Grace Chung (Ontario, Canada) tied her career low by shooting a second round 73. She is seven strokes over par and is tied for 28th with one round to go. Juniors Katlyn Elliott (Peterbrough, Ont.) and Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) are both tied for 38th after posting second round scores of 74 and 79, respectively. Senior Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) shot a second round 77 and is tied for 44th.
"We just not put it all together today. I thought Grace [Chung] and Katlyn [Elliott] played well," head coach Denise St. Pierre said. "We had a great practice and look forward to our final round."
Kent State has overtaken Ohio State for the team lead as they shot a second round score of 279 to put them at 575 strokes through two rounds, holding a five shot lead over second place Ohio State. Marijosse Navarro of Texas A&M is the individual leader at even-par, holding a one shot lead on the rest of the competition.
