Penn State Tied for Seventh After First Round

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- As the spring season finally began for the Penn State women's golf team, the Nittany Lions wasted no time and came out of the gate firing on all cylinders. The blue and white opened the first round of the Kiawah Island Classic with a 300, tying them for seventh place with High Point. The Nittany Lions are nine shots behind the leader as they enter day two of the tournament. Tee times for the second round begin at 9:00 a.m.

Junior Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) led Penn State as she shot an even par 72 to put her in a tie for seventh place with six other golfers. The 72 was a season low for Elliott, who is currently three strokes behind the leader. Senior Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) is tied for 23rd as she posted a two over par 74. Junior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) recorded a 76 placing her in a tie for 49th. Sophomore Grace Chung (Ontario, Canada), who set her career high with ten rounds played this season, is tied for 78th after shooting an opening round 78.

Troy University is in the lead after the first round as they shot a 291. Ana Kim of St. John's, Wad Phaewchimplee of Kent State, and Taylor McGraw of Troy are all tied for first place as they all recorded opening round scores of 69, equaling three strokes under par.
