Penn State Notes:
- No. 3 seed Penn State (23-7) advances to an NCAA Second Round contest against the Dayton-Florida winner, Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center.
- Penn State and Wichita State met for the first time.
- Making their 25th NCAA Championship appearance, the Lady Lions improve to 16-3 in NCAA First Round games and 31-24 in NCAA contests overall. Penn State is among only 10 schools with at least 25 NCAA Championship appearances.
- Penn State improved to 18-5 in NCAA Tournament games played at home.
- The Lady Lions advanced to at least the NCAA Second Round for the fourth consecutive year.
- Penn State improved to 5-5 all-time as a No. 3 seed.
- The Lady Lions trailed, 30-25, at halftime but opened the second half on a 17-0 run to take a 42-30 lead. Wichita State was held scoreless until the 12:16 mark in the second half.
- The senior class improved its career record to 100-30 (.769), moving into a tie for 2nd (with Class of 1992-95) as the winningest classes in program history. The Class of '94 leads with a 103-18 record.
- Senior Ariel Edwards surpassed 1,000 career points during the first half, becoming the 36th Lady Lion to achieve the milestone. She scored 17 points today, her career-best in an NCAA Tournament game, giving her 1,014 points.
- Senior Talia East recorded her 100th career block, becoming the eighth Lady Lion to do so all-time.
- Talia East had a season-high 13 rebounds.
- Talia East posted her fifth double-double of the season; first in an NCAA Tournament game.
- Senior Maggie Lucas moved into a tie for 5th place on school season scoring list with 644 points. Lucas also scored 644 points in the 2012-13 season.
- Maggie Lucas became the Penn State season leader in Free Throws made with 177, passing Tyra Grant's 176 in 2009-10.
- Maggie Lucas moved from 63rd to 57th in NCAA all-time career scoring with 2,482 points.
- Maggie Lucas posted her 17th game this season with at least 20 points.
- With 22 points today, Maggie Lucas posted her third career 20-point game in NCAA Tournament play.
- Maggie Lucas moved into 9th place on school season list for 3-pointers made with 69.
- Maggie Lucas moved into 4th place on the school season list for FT attempts with 187.
Wichita State Notes:
- No. 14 seed Wichita State ends the season with a 26-7 record
- Wichita State was playing in its second consecutive NCAA Tournament, falling at Texas A&M in 2013
- The Shockers fell to 3-1 in neutral site games this season, having gone 3-0 to win the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
- Sophomore Michaela Dapprich led Wichita State with 19 points, her second-highest total of the season.
- Wichita State assistant coach Dana Eikenberg played for the Lady Lions from 1989-92, helping Penn State to NCAA Tournament appearances her last seasons.
