WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -
Junior Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) shot a career-low 67 in the second round at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate to lead the Nittany Lions to a 595 two-round total.
Penn State will enter the final round of play tied-for-12th with Farleigh Dickinson and Towson. Talbert improved to tied-for-8th with his 2-over par 142 mark. Sophomore JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) matched his round one tally of 73 to bring his score to a 146 and tied-for-31st placing.
Freshman Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) tallied a 153 through the first 36 holes on the River Course at Kingsmill. One stroke behind Elliot is sophomore Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.), who will enter the final round with a 154.
Junior Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) shot a 77 on day two to bring his total to a 157.
Texas Tech took strong hold of the lead from Eastern Michigan, shooting a 566 (288-278) team score. It is Radford's Ryan Rettberg, though, who currently stands with a 4-under 136 mark to lead the field.
